Role Description
This is a full-time on-site food and beverage manager role at HOTEL MADEIRA, located in Funchal. The Food & Beverage Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food and beverage department, managing staff, ensuring high-quality customer service, and optimizing profitability.
Qualifications
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Demonstrated experience in food and beverage operations including event planning.
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations
• Organizational and strategic planning skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
• Food safety certification is a plus
• Experience in budget planning
• Knowledge of HOST POS system
Main Responsibilities:
• Manage a Food and Beverage professionals team including waiters, bartenders, kitchen staff, and support staff.
• Establish objectives KPIs, schedule policies and procedures
• Ensure that the quality of food and drinks meets the standards by monitoring the preparation, presentation, and taste of food and drinks
• Manage Food and Beverage Costs, including purchasing, inventory, waste control, and labour costs to ensure profitability
• Develop and update menus, considering gastronomic trends, seasonality and guest preferences
• Coordinate special events, banquets, and themed dinners
• Oversee customer service, ensuring exceptional customer service and promptly responding to any guest concerns or complaints
• Establish and maintain relationships with food and beverage suppliers, negotiating prices, delivery times, and product quality
